Du Oct 18 2026 to Oct 24 2026

The priestly retreat will be preached by Father Emmanuel Schwab, rector of the Shrine of Lisieux, from Sunday evening 18 until Saturday noon 24 October in Lisieux on the theme “Letters to my brother priests".

While Saint Thérèse wrote 20 letters to two seminarians—11 to Bellière and 9 to Roulland—the Thérèse collection contains another 246 letters. Among them, the letters to Céline are of great spiritual richness.

Drawing on this entire heritage, we will allow Thérèse to guide us through her own experience to renew our loving relationship with the Lord Jesus.

The program for each day includes:

  • Lauds
  • Chat
  • Trade Fair
  • Lunch
  • Chat
  • Vespers
  • Romantic

Each talk will offer the content of two periods of personal prayer.

This retreat will follow in the wake of what Pope Leo XIV wrote on January 28th to the priests of Madrid:

"This is how the type of priests that Madrid—and the entire Church—needs right now is emerging. Certainly not men defined by the multiplication of tasks or by the pressure of results, but men conformed to Christ, capable of sustaining their ministry from a living relationship with Himnourished by the Eucharist and expressed in pastoral charity marked by sincere self-giving. It is not a matter of inventing new models or redefining the identity we have received, but of proposing anew, with renewed intensity, the priesthood in its most authentic essence—to be alter Christus—allowing God to shape our lives, unify our hearts, and give form to a ministry lived in intimacy with God, faithful devotion to the Church, and concrete service to the people entrusted to us.
