The Servant Sisters of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus welcome pilgrims in Lisieux since January 2015.
The Congregation is of Italian origin and was founded in 1933 thanks to the initiative of Father Nicola Cerbone and Mother Chiara Oristanio.
Father Nicola Cerbone, a man of great culture and profound humanity, spent nearly all of his life helping the souls of the Parish Cuccaro Vetere (Italy) where he received the charisma as the Founder Father from the Holy Spirit.
Mother Chiara Oristanio who was president of the Catholic Action worked with Father Nicola at the Congregation where she became the first Mother Superior. The Congregation of the Servant Sisters of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus was born, grows and develops under the watch of these two souls open to the action of the Holy Spirit.
The spirituality of their community is to live the « little way » of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus which is shown through their humble, kind and generous service to those who are meek. This service is carried out in the modest apostolic activities that are radically evangelical and that respond to the needs of the local Church in the community parish, through educative apostolate and social action respecting the culture and traditions and interpreting the signs of an age. The Servant Sisters of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus are true servants of God and man, in the simple sacrifices they give to show the love of God to their brothers and sisters.
They are already in Italy, Brazil, Peru, Madagascar and in France.
Sister Cristiana, Sister Eliene, Sister Claire, Sister Rosa and Sister Nely consider that it is a grace to be in Lisieux as Thérèse is their model of life. And so, they would like to be able to welcome pilgrims in the same spirit. So you are welcome to Foyer Saints Louis and Zélie Martin and to the Ermitage Sainte-Thérèse !
We, the Servant Sisters of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus, have the great joy of being in Lisieux, to be able to drink from the same spiritual source and to share through our mission in the welcome homes of the Sanctuary.
Being able to plunge in Thérèse’s teachings while walking in her steps helps us grow in joy and in the courage and confidence of God, in serving our brothers.
