Every moment you give me your grace

I live on Love.

Saint Therese
Thérèse's declaration of love to Jesus

"What comes out of the mouth, said Jesus, it is what overflows from the heart. (Mt 15,18:XNUMX). Sister Thérèse of the Child Jesus composed her poem Living on love in his heart during the Eucharistic adoration of the 40 hours preceding Lent 1895, on February 26. Composed and memorized in such a way as to be able to then write down the 15 stanzas…

This poem, developed in parallel with the beginning of the writing of Manuscript A, deeply expresses Thérèse's spirituality. During this year of the centenary of her canonization, we will draw on this poem to animate two weekends. On February 8 and 9, Brother Philippe Hugelé, OCD, will help us read it to explore the spirituality it presents, to better enter into what inhabits Thérèse's heart. The 1er and March 2, a few days before the start of Lent, I will use this poem to help us experience this long journey towards Pentecost.

In this Holy Year that invites us to wander in Hope, this poem can serve as a compass. It has been set to music several times, which can help us memorize it. Because what sprang from Thérèse's heart could, with a slight effort on our part, nourish our hearts throughout the year if our memory works to know it... by heart!

So, in this Jubilee Year, we will be able to welcome the great hope that animated Thérèse throughout her life:

To live on love is to wipe your face

It is to obtain forgiveness from sinners

O God of Love! may they come into your grace

And may they forever bless your name….. (§11)
