Following a discernment between the Carmel of Lisieux community and the Order of Carmel in the face of the difficulties encountered by the sisters in ensuring daily life, the Carmel of Lisieux is affiliated with the Thérèse-Elisabeth Federation of Carmelites of France - North involving profound changes in the life of Carmel.

The Federal President, Sr. Marie-Gabrielle, of the Carmel of Saint-Saulve, becomes major superior. With her council, she will ensure the direction of the Carmelites of Lisieux and appoints Sr Marie as local superior to manage the ordinary daily life of the monastery.
In close relationship with Monsignor Jacques Habert, bishop of the diocese of Bayeux-Lisieux, a transitional period opens during which a small group of sisters will ensure their mission of prayer and service of the influence of little Thérèse in a more hidden and more discreet.
Consequently, the offices of Lauds and Vespers will no longer be celebrated at the Carmel Chapel from July 17 with the exception of the 1st and 2nd Vespers on Sunday. Masses will continue to be celebrated there with the same times.
The other sisters will each go to another place where they can continue to live their consecration to the Lord.
Very grateful for the fraternal support and faithful prayer of the friends of the Carmel of Lisieux, the community is experiencing this important stage in faith and hope, even if it is not without suffering.
The members of the Saint Thérèse Shrine renew their deep friendship with their Carmelite sisters, and assure them of their prayer in truth and charity so that the Carmel of Lisieux remains a source of grace and intimacy with the Lord.
